Full Qualification Title: Level 2 NVQ Certificate or Diploma in Interior Systems – Dry Lining Finishing
Requirements
The qualification is suitable for tradesmen with several years of experience in Dry Lining Finishing AKA Taping & Jointing. You will need to demonstrate that you have the necessary skills and knowledge to use safe methods of access (towers, podiums etc.) and to safely finish joints and corners on plasterboard partitions and/or MF ceilings, using either hand or mechanical methods.
Assessment Process
The most common way to achieve your NVQ is called the On Site Assessment and Training (OSAT) and involves an assessor collecting evidence of candidate’s skills by workplace observation and questioning. Candidates can also provide additional evidence in the forms of Toolbox Talks, Time sheets, Induction Registers and Employer’s and Client’s References. The whole process is designed around candidates and their needs. The idea is that assessor should not in any way interfere with the candidate’s work activities and must be almost invisible during workplace observations. At the end of the assessment assessor will conducted a tape-recorded discussion with the candidate to confirm their work knowledge.
How Long Does It Take?
The length of a typical Level 2 assessments from is between 6 weeks and 3 months. We will always make sure that you achieve your qualification in the shortest possible time by using assessment methods tailored to your circumstances and constantly updating you on the progress of the assessment.
CSCS
You can apply for a temporary CSCS card while being assessed for you NVQ or, if you already have a temporary card, extend it for a further 6 months. On completion of the assessment you will be able to apply for a permanent CSCS card valid for 5 years.
You will require a valid CSCS Health and Safety Test in order to obtain your Experienced Worker (temporary) CSCS Card. So if you don’t have one or you passed your test more than 52years ago please visit Construction Skills website to book one.
However, if you wait until the assessment’s completion, you will not be required to pass the test to obtain your CSCS Card, as the H&S aspect is included within the assessment
Prices
The cost of the full assessment is £750 + VAT. Construction companies registered for CITB Levy can claim grants from the CITB for each completed NVQ assessment.
