Full Qualification Title: Pearson Edexcel Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Decorative Finishing and Painting Occupations – Painter (Construction)

Requirements

The qualification is suitable for tradespeople with several year experience in Painting & Decorating. You will need to demonstrate that you have the necessary skills and knowledge to safely erect working platforms (towers, podiums, step ladders etc.); to handle and store components, including COSHH materials: to prepare surfaces; and to apply paint to the surfaces using brushes and rollers.

Assessment Process

The most common way to achieve your NVQ is called the On Site Assessment and Training (OSAT) and involves an assessor collecting evidence of candidate’s skills by workplace observation and questioning. Learners will also be asked to also provide additional evidence in the forms of Toolbox Talks, Timesheets, Induction Registers and Employer’s and/or Client’s References. The whole process is designed around candidates and their needs. The idea is that assessor should not in any way interfere with the candidate’s work activities and must be almost invisible during workplace observations. At the end of the assessment assessor will conducted a tape-recorded discussion with the candidate to confirm their work knowledge.

How Long Does It Take?

The minimum length of the assessments from the candidate’s registration to the actual achievement of the NVQ is two to three months, and the maximum length is twelve months. We will always make sure that you achieve your qualification in the shortest possible time by using assessment methods tailored to your circumstances and constantly updating you on the progress of the assessment.
