Full Qualification Title: Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Supervision (Construction)

Requirements

The qualification is suitable for very experienced Site Supervisors, most commonly employed by principal contractors to oversee all aspects of the construction. Your site duties should include planning work activities and labour; organizing site set-up; identifying and implementing all H&S requirements; ensuring that the RAMS are in place for all work activities; obtaining and distributing dimensional information; monitoring progress of works using Programmes and email communication; participating in site meetings with management and subcontractors; ordering materials and equipment; monitoring Quality Standards at various stages of the work

Assessment Process

The most common way to achieve your NVQ is called the On Site Assessment and Training (OSAT) and involves an assessor collecting evidence of candidate’s skills and knowledge i.e.

  • H&S paperwork i.e. Safety Inductions, Toolbox Talks, H&S Inspections etc.
  • Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
  • Construction Phase Plan
  • Programme of Works
  • Requests for Information (RFI)
  • Purchase orders or email requests for materials and equipment
  • Records of checks of the access equipment, plant, tools etc.
  • Quality inspection check lists, handing over sheets or snag lists, as well as emails to head office/client reporting on the quality of work
  • Evidence of ensuring the dimensional accuracy of the works
  • Minutes of Site Meetings

How Long Does It Take?

The minimum length of the assessments from the candidate’s registration to the actual achievement of the NVQ is about two months and the maximum is twenty four months. We will always make sure that you achieve your qualification in the shortest possible time by using assessment methods tailored to your circumstances and constantly updating you on the progress of the assessment.

CSCS

You can apply for a temporary Supervisory CSCS card while being assessed for you NVQ which is valid for three years. On completion of the assessment you will be able to apply for a permanent CSCS card valid for 5 years.

Health & Safety Test

You will require a valid CSCS Health and Safety Test in order to obtain your Experienced Worker (temporary) CSCS Card. So if you don’t have one or you passed your test more than 5 years ago please visit Construction Skills website to book one.

However, if you wait until the assessment’s completion, you will not be required to pass the test to obtain your CSCS Card, as the H&S aspect is included within the assessment

Prices

The cost of the full assessment is £1250 + VAT. Construction companies registered for CITB Levy can claim grants from the CITB for each completed NVQ assessment.
