Full Qualification Title: Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations Management – General (QCF)

Requirements

The qualification is suitable for learners with a traceable experience in Contracts and/or Project Management. You will need to demonstrate that you have the necessary skills and knowledge to plan and organize work activities, obtain necessary project information, liaise with clients and other contractors, organize and chair site meetings, create and amend work programmes and schedules, provide contract information and guidance to sub-contractors, organize delivery and storage of materials and equipment, obtain information on H&S, hazards and safe methods of work and regularly check quality of work against relevant standards.

The CSkills Awards have recommended to us that this NVQ is especially suitable for managers working for specialist subcontractors, who might be running teams of workers on several sites, as well as company owners who act as Contracts or Project Managers. For the Site Managers working for traditional house-building companies and principal contractors, the more suitable NVQ would be the Construction Site Management

Assessment Process

The most common way to achieve your NVQ is called the On Site Assessment and Training (OSAT) and involves an assessor collecting evidence of candidate’s skills and knowledge. In case of Construction Contracting Operations Management the evidence is strictly documentary (Product Evidence) i.e. Company H&S Policies, Risk Assessments and Method Statements, Toolbox Talks, Safety Induction, Purchase Orders, Minutes of Site Meeting, Requests for Information, Programmes of Work as well as email correspondence regarding H&S, planning of work, information, re-scheduling work activities and quality of work. Copies of these documents are normally easily obtainable from the candidate and their employer or client. There is also a requirement for a tape-recorded discussion with assessor at the end of the assessment to confirm candidate’s work knowledge.

How Long Does It Take?

The minimum length of the assessments from the candidate’s registration to the actual achievement of the NVQ is about three months and the maximum is twenty four months. We will always make sure that you achieve your qualification in the shortest possible time by using assessment methods tailored to your circumstances and constantly updating you on the progress of the assessment.
